Making a page with collage in Lena’s Art Journal with

Join me today for a delightful collage adventure in Lena’s Art Journal! Quite a while ago, Lena and I exchanged handmade journals, and now we share the joy of creating together every third Friday of the month with a new page in our shared journal. Working in a journal that someone else created adds a special element of surprise and creativity—it’s like a Junk Journal, or what I like to call a Trash to Treasure Journal.

For this particular page, I gathered bits and pieces from magazines, books, and cards—those lovely items we can’t bear to discard because they’re just too pretty. I selected papers that I felt would complement the existing colors and elements on Lena’s page.

In addition to the magazine clippings and paper pieces, I incorporated some cellophane tape into the collage. To customize the tape, I pulled strips from old book pages and colored them using alcohol inks.

The process was quite fun and allowed me to create unique, colorful elements for the page. If you’re interested, I can provide a brief overview of how I colored the tapes. Let me know if you’d like to learn more about the entire process—it’s a wonderful way to add personalized touches to your art journal pages!

As always, I ended up pulling out more pieces than I actually needed. It’s all part of the process—shuffling around the bits, experimenting with different combinations, and finding that perfect arrangement that brings the page to life. The journey of creating this collage was filled with playful discovery and artistic exploration.
