February often comes with an unspoken expectation of hearts, red, and Valentine’s Day. Even though this holiday isn’t a big thing for me here in Switzerland, I still felt drawn to the color red this month – warm, bold, emotional, and sometimes a little loud.

For Moodboard Nr. 2, I decided to limit myself to one color only. I started the spread by embroidering a small heart onto a piece of old linen. That stitched heart became the quiet center of the page and set the tone for everything that followed.
From there, I pulled out all the red materials from my stash: collage papers, magazine images (one of them from a fashion catalog), word snippets, and scraps that had been waiting for the right moment. For the background, I worked with Pyrrol Red acrylic paint and Barn Red Distress Ink, building soft layers and textures while staying within the same color family.

Working with just one color feels surprisingly freeing. There’s no need to think about color combinations or harmony – the focus shifts to composition, contrast, texture, and storytelling. It becomes a calm, almost meditative process, where intuition leads the way.
This double-page spread is playful, imperfect, and very much about enjoying the moment rather than aiming for a specific outcome. Sometimes, creative limitations can open doors instead of closing them.
In the accompanying video, I also share a small update about my future upload rhythm. To make more space for painting, workshops, and classes, I’ll be moving to three horizontal videos per month, with occasional vertical videos sprinkled in whenever something spontaneous comes up.
Thank you for being here and taking the time to slow down and create alongside me.
