In this video I’m sharing the process of making a new handmade art journal using only my new collage papers and a fabric cover.
For the cover, I layered fabric, a printable Lutradur mixed media sheet, and two layers of brown sewing pattern tissue. The tissue subtly shines through the Lutradur and adds a beautiful, quiet texture. I finished the journal with a button and ribbon closure. I also explain in the video why I don’t cat the ribbon yet.

The inside pages are printed double-sided, with each collage paper pattern used twice. To create enough pages, I printed two A5 pages on one sheet and bound everything into two signatures using matching waxed linen thread.
Before the timelapse begins, I also introduce my new collage papers, two new stencils, and the matching stamp set.
This project is all about slowing down, trusting materials, and letting layers build naturally.

After finishing the journal, I used the remaining scraps to create small mixed media embellishments. These little pieces carry the same textures, colors, and stitching as the journal and are a lovely way to extend the project without wasting any materials.
