The last zinnias in my garden are bowing to the cold, but their colors still shout summer. This little 20×20 cm canvas Mixed Media piece is part of my current zinnia streak (yes…obsessed!).

Process: I started with a loose acrylic underpainting to map light and shadow. Next, I drew petal structure using oil-based charcoal (love the rich, smudge-resistant lines). Final pops of light came from Neopastel by Caran d’Ache, which sits beautifully on top of acrylic.

If you enjoy floral layers and mixed media play, save this post for your next studio session.
