I’m so happy to share another beautiful Design Team project from the talented Nancy Nickel of The Nickel Nook! This time, she’s been playing with the Mermaid Collection, and the results are whimsical, colorful, and full of creative joy.
🐚 Moveable Mermaid Magic
Nancy started by creating an enchanting moveable mermaid using fussy cut elements from the collection. The articulated arms give the piece a playful, interactive feel—perfect for any art journal! She mounted the mermaid onto a vibrant, abstract background page that truly makes her pop. Look at those ocean friends swimming along—so fun!
“I’ve really been having fun with this collection,” Nancy said—and you can tell from all the joyful details.
🧜♀️ Tag Insert with a Message
In addition to the journal spread, Nancy created a tag insert clipped into her journal. It features another delightful mermaid-style figure—this one with fairy wings and a seashell top! The striped background adds a candy-colored pop, and the sentiment at the bottom ties it all together:
“She had the soul of a mermaid,
the fire of a lioness,
the heart of a hippie,
and the spirit of a butterfly.”
Perfect words for a magical creation!
