Design Team Project: Upcycled Journal Pages by Wendy

Hello everyone! Today,Wendy shares a fun project. In this creative journal spread, Wendy demonstrates how to make the most of everyday materials. She proves that even a simple Amazon delivery can spark inspiration!

Turning Packaging into Art

This project started unexpectedly when I received a new pair of trainers during Amazon Prime week. Inside the box, the shoes were wrapped in soft tissue paper. I quickly saw this as an opportunity for some creative upcycling. Instead of tossing the tissue paper, she decided to use it as the base for her journal pages. What a fantastic way to make use of packaging materials we all have lying around!

Using Bea’s Stamps for a Unique Touch

To bring the tissue paper background to life, I reached for Faces stamp sets. I used Archival ink to stamp the designs, ensuring they wouldn’t smudge when I applied Mod Podge for sealing. The stamps added wonderful details and transformed the plain tissue paper into a textured, layered background full of character.

Sealing and Layering

The choice of Archival ink was key to this project. The ink is permanent. As a result, it won’t bleed when covered with Mod Podge. This is an excellent tip if you’re working with delicate or recycled materials. After stamping, Wendy applied Mod Podge to seal the surface and add durability to her journal pages.

Eco-Friendly and Creative

One of the highlights of this project is its eco-friendly approach. Wendy repurposed packaging materials to create something beautiful. She also showed us how to incorporate sustainable practices into our art. It’s a great reminder that inspiration can come from anywhere – even the inside of a delivery box!

Give It a Try!

Feeling inspired by Wendy’s creative reuse of packaging materials? Grab some tissue paper from your latest delivery, pick out your favorite stamps, and start experimenting! Don’t forget to share your creations in our Facebook group, ‘Bea’s Mixed Media and More‘. We’d love to see how you upcycle and create your own unique journal pages.

Happy crafting, and a big thank you to Wendy for this wonderful project! This is Wendy’s final project with us as part of the Design Team. We are so grateful for her wonderful creations! Stay tuned. In January, I will introduce our new Design Team member. They will start sharing their projects again in February.
