Visiting My Glass Artist Friend in Germany: A Creative Journey

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting one of my dear artsy friends in Germany. She’s an incredibly talented glass artist, and I’ve always admired how she incorporates my stencils into her work. During this visit, I was particularly drawn to one of her modern signature vases, created with one of my stencils. This particularly one is retired but you can find other cool stencils here.

I had the rare opportunity to watch her in action in her dedicated workroom. It’s fascinating to see her craft up close. The transformation of raw materials into a beautiful piece of art is mesmerizing. My stencil lends its unique design to the glass. Although I didn’t take many photos of the process, I was captivated by her skillful work with molten glass. She shaped it into elegant forms and added intricate details. Watching the creative process unfold was magical.

Her workroom is full of tools, glass, and all the essentials of glass fusing. Her shop, which is separate, offers a completely different atmosphere. It’s a pristine and inviting space where her finished pieces are beautifully displayed. The shop is filled with natural light, which makes each vase, sculpture, and glass object sparkle. The contrast is striking. The raw creativity of the workroom highlights the refined elegance of the shop. This adds to the charm of visiting her space.

I didn’t capture the whole glass fusing process on camera. Yet, the experience gave me a new appreciation for the artistry and care that goes into every piece. And yes, I couldn’t resist taking home one of those stunning vases. It now holds a special place in my home.

If you ever find yourself in Germany, I highly recommend visiting her shop. Whether you love modern art or are simply curious about the craft, her creations will impress you.
