Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our monthly art journey where we bring you the latest creation for the #3girlsand12faces project. This month, I took my inspiration from the incredible works of Amedeo Modigliani, known for his distinctive elongated faces and hauntingly empty eyes.
My Modigliani-Inspired Face
For this piece, I aimed to capture the essence of Modigliani’s style, which is characterized by its unique blend of elegance and mystery. The face I painted has those signature elongated features and somewhat vacant eyes, echoing the style that made Modigliani’s work so captivating.
The original size of his artwork is 46 x 38 cm, so I had the challenge of squeezing this design onto a postcard-sized background. Despite the reduction in size, I love how it turned out! This smaller canvas pushed me to focus on the essential elements and fine details

Supplies and Techniques
For this piece, I used a combination of:
- White charcoal pencil for the initial sketch and finer details.
- Oil-based black charcoal for deeper, bolder lines.
- Acrylic paints to add vibrant color and bring the face to life.
This mix of materials allowed me to create depth and texture, enhancing the overall effect of the elongated features and those evocative eyes.
