Welcome to another installment of our Art Journal Journey collaboration with Lena from Finland! This creative adventure has been an inspiring experience for both of us as we exchanged a journal and since then we work in our art journals every 3rd Friday. Today, I’m excited to share my latest addition to the journal, where I’ve incorporated various elements to create a unique and vibrant page.
In this latest session, I focused on adding more layers and elements to the journal page. Here’s a breakdown of what I included:
1. Hand-Drawn and Painted Face:
I started with a hand-drawn and painted face on a piece of watercolor paper. This element adds a personal and expressive touch to the page, serving as a focal point that draws the viewer’s attention. I started by sketching the face with a pencil and then colored in lightly with watercolors.
2. Pretty Papers from My Stash:
To complement the painted face, I delved into my collection of pretty papers. These included vibrant gelliprints, interesting magazine pieces, and other assorted papers that add texture and color to the composition. Each piece was carefully chosen to enhance the overall aesthetic and to create a cohesive yet dynamic look.
The Joy of Collaboration
One of the most rewarding aspects of this collaboration is the element of surprise and discovery. Each month, we get to see how the other has transformed the journal, adding their unique touch and building upon the existing artwork. It’s a continuous journey of inspiration, where each page tells a story of creativity and shared passion.
